April 21, 2024

At this class we learned about Catherine the Great and how a little German princess became the Tsarina of one of the World's great empires, how she invited her countrymen/our ancestors to help her civilize an important region in her country. We also learned about the Volga colonies and how later her grandson Alexander continued her legacy in the Black Sea and Ukraine. We learned the names of some famous Germans from Russia and, finally, we watched a demonstration on how to make gleece and then enjoyed tasting it. The gleece recipe can be found on our website under the traditions tab and then choose recipes.
