American Historical Society of Germans From Russia Lincoln Chapter

The purpose of the American Historical Society of Germans From Russia is to bring together people interested in the history of Germans from Russia. Through a better understanding of Germans from Russia, we will promote a better appreciation of their history and the preservation of their culture through their descendants.

There are four general meetings each year with various interesting programs, such as videos, speakers, food demos, etc.

The Lincoln Chapter came to fruition through the original efforts of Ruth Amen, Delores Schwartz and Katherine Giebelhouse. An invitation  was sent out to hold the first meeting on November 18, 1969. It was announced on June 4, 1970, at the First International Convention in Greeley, Colorado, that the Lincoln Chapter had been granted the first chapter charter. More can be read about the beginning of the Lincoln Chapter in the September/October 2004 newsletter.
